Description
The Skallis are known as the flagship family of southern French wines; they pioneered the production of single-varietal wines in the Languedoc. During the 1960s they discovered, and fell in love with, a plot of land on the eastern coast of Corsica. The location and microclimate seemed ideal for winegrowing, and so that plot of land became home to the Terra Vecchia winery. In 2006 the property was acquired by Jean-Francois Renucci, who owned the neighboring vineyards as well as an inland winery called Clos Poggiale. The Terra Vecchia red is a blend of Niellucio (Sangiovese) and Merlot; it is a full-flavored wine, an intense expression of very ripe red and black fruit, with lingering notes of mocha and spice.
